PRESS RELEASE – CONNAH’S QUAY TOWN COUNCIL

FLOWER AND VEGETABLE SHOW 2013

The Town Council is immensely pleased at the success of the second Connah’s Quay Flower and Vegetable show held at the Civic Hall on Saturday 31 August which built upon the success of the first event last year.

Councillor Andy Dunbobbin, Chair of the Town Council was pleased to be in attendance to meet the exhibitors and hand out prizes at the awards stage, he was impressed with the quality of the produce shown.

The successful 1st, 2nd and 3rd exhibitors in each class were all acknowledged with the prize-winners cards and four overall winners received a small prize and were as follows:-

  • Best Exhibit in the Junior class – Awarded to Beatrice Brandish. Beatrice Prize is ‘A herb garden, a box of chocs and a day as an Animal Keeper at Cambria College’ – Exhibit: A maritime collage.
  • Best Exhibit in the Floral Class – Awarded to Jim Attridge. – Exhibit: A vase of Sweet Peas.
  • Best Exhibit in the Vegetable Class – Awarded to William Crease. – Exhibit: A set of three onions.
  • Best Exhibit in show – Awarded to Robert Large. Robert wins a complementary meal for four at Y Celstryn College restaurant, Coleg Cambria – Deeside. – Exhibit: A prize winning set of three beetroot!

All four winners have been presented with certificates from the Town Council, together with a small  gift and the and prize vouchers for the Children’s and Overall Show winner from Coleg Cambria. 

The Town Council wishes to extent it’s most grateful thanks to Mr Paul Raven, Deputy Director – Landbased & Independent Living Skills and all at Coleg Cambria for the judging, prizes and the enthusiastic general support for this event.

It is hoped to arrange a similar event next year, possibly widening the class entry criteria.
