CHRISTMAS FAYRE & LIGHTS SWITCH-ON
The Chair of the Town Council Cllr Peter Tinman was in attendance and supervised the tree lights switch on assisted by two grandchildren and pupils from Connah’s Quay High School.
He was immensely pleased with the event and turnout. He said ‘I am really pleased to see so many smiling faces here at this wonderful event to celebrate the commencement of the festive season. It has been a very special occasion, with a great indoor community event here at the Civic Hall. The community has contributed in bringing everything together with the Town Council and it has brought a warm glow on a chilly evening for everyone involved!’
Councillor Pam Attridge, Chair of Recreation and Entertainment Committee said ‘I would like to thank everyone for their help in arranging and taking part in the wonderful community event, We have had great support from all sorts of different groups, bringing together education, religion, theatre, music, dance schools, bands, choirs, businesses, charities and the like and over £250 was raised for the Chair’s Charity Appeal.’
Town Clerk, Ian Jones said ‘It really was a busy night here at the Civic Hall, with Church choirs, Deeside Silver Band, Radio Deeside, an unusual rap routine from Connah’s Quay Artisan hub, Clint and Nicki’s dance school, Bryn Deva and Connah’s Quay High school choirs , Santa’s grotto, many stalls, mince pies, mulled wine and lots of festive cheer. Well over 1,000 people attended (including the man in the red outfit).
