At a Special meeting of the Finance and General Purposes Committee held on 24 January, the Town Council has set its budget for 2017-18 – holding the amount of the precept at the same level as 2016-17.
The Band D charge will remain at £49.74.
This has been done in challenging financial conditions, with the Council committing to continued financial support for:
• Cambrian Aquatics to operate the swimming pool in the town;
• Quay Play – the summer play scheme held at Connah’s Quay Sport Centre;
• The provision of CCTV cameras throughout Connah’s Quay; and,
• Providing free school milk for children at the 4 primary schools in the town.
Councillors have also taken on board the feedback from local residents about last year’s Christmas Tree and have set aside funds to look at options for improving the festive lighting this year.
The Council is also responsible for the running of the Civic Hall, Community Centre on Cable Street, Quay Café on Fron Road, Mill Lane (South) Allotments as well as its Offices on Fron Road.
The budget that has been set will enable the Council to continue to invest in these assets for the benefit of the local community.
