We have updated the Town Councillors page with contact details of the new councillors elected on May 3rd and the Councillor Responsibilities page. We will be uploading some more photos of Connah’s Quay soon to the gallery.

Chairman’s Civic Sunday 24 June 2012

Chair of Connah’s Quay Town Council Councillor Allan Roberts has  announced that the Civic Visit to St. Marks’ Church will be at 11.00am on  Sunday 24 June 2012.

Invitations to individuals, groups and societies would be sent out  in due course.

New Chairman and Vice-Chairman 2012/13

The Town Council at its Annual General Meeting elected Councillor Allan  Roberts as Chairman for the Municipal Year 2012/13.

Allan has been a Town Councillor since 1974 and is the longest serving Member. In his Chairman’s address he stated that he would do his best in the role to promote the town and the emphasis during his year office would be supporting and helping the young people in the community.

The Vice-Chairman for the year will be Councillor Ron Hill. Ron has been a serving member of the Town Council for 25 years during which time he has served two periods as Chairman.

All current Town Councillors will effectively retire in May as there are elections scheduled for 3 May.

The following are elected unopposed in uncontested seats to the new Town Council from 3 May. (details supplied by the Returning Officer at Flintshire CC)

Central Ward

- JB Attridge, PM Attridge, ES Faulkner, AP Shotton, WP Shotton

Golftyn Ward

- DM Birch, GA Faulkner, RP Macfarlane, EW Owen, IR Smith

Contested seats in other Wards will be subject to elections on 3 May 2012.See attached notices of Poll.Notices of Poll

It has been announced by the Welsh Government that the period of office will be extended to 5 years on this occasion.

 

North Wales Treatment Plant – Public Meeting

To consider the Proposal for a North Wales Waste Treatment Plant

   A public meeting will be held on Tuesday 22 November at 6.00pm at the Civic Hall, Connah’s Quay.

 

 The meeting will be addressed by experts in the treatment of waste including the likely impact on the local environment of emissions, including the effect of windblown emissions.  There will be an opportunity to ask questions and air views.

Quayplay 2011 – Resounding Success

The Town Council is pleased to announce the great success of this venture in partnership with Flintshire CC.      

Connah’s Quay children benefitted from the financial input form the Town Council to the tune of over £11,000 which helps to make this scheme the biggest in Wales. Well done to all involved

Vegetable and Flower Show – 2012

The Town Council is planning to host a Vegetable and Flower Show in 2012  inviting the general public, schools and allotment holders to show the fruits of their labour with prize giving to class winners.

A public meeting is planned soon to discuss arrangements.

Chair’s Charity Evening

Chair of Connah’s Quay Town Council Councillor Mrs Pamela Attridge is pleased to announce that a Charity Evening will be held at 7pm on Friday 28 October 2011 – venue Civic Hall Connah’s Quay entrance by ticket only. Donations for raffle prizes are sought with all proceeds going to local charities.

A formal Chair’s Ball will be held on 23 March 2012.

We’ve just updated the site with pictures on our home page of the conference rooms for hire and also the  Town Councillors page with the information for the new councillor elected for Connah’s Quay Central ward, Paul Shotton.

Quayplay 2011 – Connah’s Quay Summer Playscheme

Connah’s Quay Town Council in association with Flintshire CC are pleased to once again sponsor the summer playscheme for children (aged 5 -11) in the town. The Town Council will also pay for bus transportation to the Sports Centre. The Scheme will operate from 20 July to 23 August.

Please note all children must be pre-registered for the scheme and the buses via the consent forms.
