CONNAH’S QUAY

 

Connah’s Quay is a town of great interest and potential.  The Civic Centre complex, situated near the junction of Wepre Drive and the B5129 coast road, includes Council Chamber and County Council Offices, Library, Child Welfare Clinic, Swimming Pool and Civic Hall. The Swimming Pool, which is administered by Flintshire County Council, is 100ft. by 42ft. and has spectators’ gallery as well as learner pool.

 The Civic Hall is administered by Connah’s Quay Town Council and is a popular venue for a wide variety of entertainments and fund-raising activities as well as business and family functions.  There is a stage, a large ballroom floor, cafeteria and licensed bar and the Town Council’s in-house catering facilities are designed to suit clients’ individual requirements and budget.  Self-catering is also possible, by arrangement.

 The Town Council also administers the Community Centre which is situated off Tuscan Way, overlooking the Central Park cricket field.   This is also a popular venue for local organisations and family functions.

  The Town Council enjoys particularly close links with the High School and recognises and supports its role as a Community High School for the benefit of all age-groups within the local community.   Alongside the High School is the Sports Centre and Deeside College – an educational establishment catering for courses from tertiary and further education to higher education, degree and research work and alongside the College is the Deeside Stadium (opened 8th October, 1998 comprising of stand for seating of 420, running track and football pitch (used by Connah’s Quay Nomads).

 

With a present population approaching 17,500 (making the town the largest in Flintshire), Connah’s Quay is a growing and thriving community and a desirable place of residence within easy reach of Merseyside, Chester and the North Wales coastal and inland resorts.  There is a good range of shops and supermarkets and an open air market on Thursday each week a the car park at Fron Road.
